Rumour: Google to buy Skype: After Google’s latest announcement of voice calls through its services, comes another surprise, it’s intention to buy Skype. This could well be a defining moment as Google then would have a strong hold on the market. eBay which bought Skype for a whooping $2.5Bn in 2005 seems to be keen on off-loading this cash-cow amidst reports of cash crunch with its latest fin reports showing a drop of profit by 7%. How much Google would be ready to offer and how much would be it’s share in the market is still a guess but one thing is certain, companies like Cisco need to move in fast to ensure that they consolidate their positions.
